Wahoo.  The ChickFilA Copy Cat Recipe is here!  I did it!  I am so excited!  I FINALLY perfected the Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich recipe!!!

Can you guess what the secret ingredient is…..   wait for it….

keep guessing….

What’s your answer???

It’s powdered sugar!  Who would have thought!  Powdered sugar in a chicken sandwich!  YUP!  It’s super delicious too!  There’s something special when you combine a mixture of sweetness with salty that intensifies the taste.

Did you guess right?  Were you even close?

ChickFilA Copy Cat Recipe ingredients:

4 to 6 Boneless chicken breasts
Sea Salt
Ground Pepper
Oil for frying (ChickFilA uses Peanut Oil)
3/4 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 cup unseasoned bread crumbs
1 1/2 tablespoons Powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Dry Mustard
1/2 teaspoon Season all or paprika
Dill pickles
Hamburger buns (I used wheat)
Butter (for the hamburger buns)

Directions:
First, if the chicken breasts are to big (as some are) you will need to cut them in half.

Use three separate bowls.

First bowl – add the flour and seasonings (Salt, pepper, powdered sugar, baking soda, dry mustard)

Second bowl – add the milk

Third bowl – add the bread crumbs

Trim all the fat off the chicken.

Dip the chicken in the flour mixture FIRST (TIP: this will allow all the seasonings to be cooked directly into the chicken for a savory taste)

After you dip the dry chicken into the flour mixture, immediately dip it into the milk

Then dip it into the milk mixture again

Then dip it into the bread crumbs and the flour mixture again immediately after the bread crumbs.

Set all the dipped pieces of chicken on a plate.
Place the oil in a frying pan but make sure it’s enough for it to cover about 1/2 a piece of chicken deep.
Check to make sure the oil is hot before you place the chicken in it (you can test this by placing a piece of flour into the oil if it sizzles, it’s ready)

Cook the chicken for about 2 minutes on each side (just enough to brown the crust) and then put it on a cookie sheet and cook for about another 20 to 30 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees or until the chicken is white inside)

(TIP: I never fry the chicken on the stove top because the chicken tends to get dry quickly. By browning the outside and baking the rest, you are almost guaranteed to have very moist and tender chicken breasts every single time)

While the chicken is baking, butter each side of the hamburger bun and grill them until brown.

Finally, add pickles and serve hot!

Voila! You just made a Chick-Fil-A copy cat chicken sandwich!

  1. Kayla do you remember anything about marinating the chicken in the dill pickle brine? I would have bet that was the case. I know I’m asking this 6 years too late, but 🤷‍♀️😉 Thanks!

  2. The recipe is confusing. It’s saying to dip in milk and then milk again. Do you mean to do the flour, then milk, then flour again, then bread crumbs?!?!

  3. I worked at CFA for 3 years… This is no where near what we used…BUT I really want t try it! Sometimes you can used and do differnt thing and make something taste just like it! I cant wait! We use a milk mixture and a flour mixture! That was my favorite job before i became a SAHM!
