Here’s how to make your Easy Homemade Sugar Scrub Bars

Ingredients Needed:

Directions:

  1. In a double boiler, melt your shredded soap. If you do not have a double boiler, microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
  2. Mix in your coconut oil until combined and add your essential oil.
  3. Add in your color mica and mix until you get a uniform color.
  4. Mix in your sugar and stir until well combined. You are looking for a slushy like consistency.
  5. Pour into your molds and allow to dry for 1-2 hours before unmolding.

TIP:  If your sugar and soap mixture gets to thick, microwave on 10 second bursts until you are able to pour.

And just like that, your Easy Homemade Sugar Scrub Bars are all done!

Pro TIP:   If you have extra dry hands or just like super soft hands then you have got to add 1 tablespoon of Vegetable Glycerin to this recipe! Glycerin is known to keep moisture in your hands!  I now add this to all my sugar scrub recipes because I love how soft my hands feel!  (I’ve had a hard time finding it in the stores, so you may do yourself a favor and grab some on Amazon here)

  2. I Just got done making my coconut sugar scrub bars and they turned out great. I can’t wait to use them. I usually make coconut vanilla bean sugar scrub and its my favorite, so I went ahead and added vanilla beans to my scrub bars and they smell so good I wanna eat them lol. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.

  3. I love this idea! I cannot wait to try it myself. I have a recipe for Coffee Sugar scrub, a long with other sugar scrub recipes. Do you think this will work w/ any recipe? Did you take your normal sugar/oil amounts and change them because of the added soap base?

    1. When I’ve made soap using soap base I never had to prep my silicon molds. I think as long as you are using silicon molds it would be find.

  4. Do you think coffee grounds could be used in the place of sugar? I love the idea of coffee grounds, coconut milk, and a hazelnut or vanilla scent! I’m new to this so I just wanted to make sure this wouldn’t mess it up 🙂

    1. I’m not to sure. I guess it would depend on how course the coffee grounds are. The sugar is course enough to exfoliate the skin. I would try a small amount. I would love to hear your results. Can you report back if you try it?

    2. I loved the recipes. The reason sugar is used is because it will melt and be user friendly for plumbing and drains. Coffee grounds might not do well in drains and could clog or make them slower due to the lack of dissolving.

  5. Love this recipe for sugar scrub bars. Never thought of making my DIY scrubs into bars! BRILLIANT!
Love your site. Will be coming back for more ideas. Thank you so much for sharing. Can’t wait to make these! =)
