NOOOOOO!!!!! Tide Laundry Detergent could cause Cancer????!!!!

Powered by Subscribers Magnet

Oh My Goodness!  According to an article I just read on New York Times, Tide could possibly cause Cancer!

I use Tide!  I bet you do too!  This is shocking to me because Tide is a household name that I have trusted for years!  **cries**

The controversy is all about levels of 1,4 dioxane (read about the chemical from the EPA here).

It seems the Tide Free & Gentle product, which has been promoted by Proctor & Gamble as a “healthy” detergent which is ideal for newborns and babies, does contain problematic levels of 1,4 dioxane!

======>>Read the full article found here on The Huffington Post (my favorite blog for News!).

According to P&G authorities, they are stating that the “4,1-Dioxane” levels are well below the risk factor…  What do you think?  Are you going to put it on hold until we find out more?

I don’t know about you but I find it very hard to “trust” any brands now-a-days and my guards are up!   What about you?  I would LOVE to hear your comments on this matter!  Please comment below!

=======>>>>>STAY TUNED because I have made it MY MISSION this week to come up with a safe and “homemade” laundry detergent!
(this may be a bit of a challenge for me because I use a High Efficiency Laundry Machine) :-/

  1. My best friend swears by this recipe. She uses a normal washer, but it is safe for a HE washer as well. I havent looked up the ingredients for septic system use yet, but it doesnt have any bleach in it so I would assume its safe for septics as well.

  2. Julie Porter says:

This is a recipe for homemade laundry soap that I have used, it works well in my opinion.

    Homemade Laundry Soap

1/3 bar Fels Naptha or other type of soap, as listed above

    ½ cup washing soda

    ½ cup borax powder

~You will also need a small bucket, about 2 gallon size~

Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Let the soap sit for about 24 hours and it will gel. You use ½ cup per load.

  3. Sometimes there is actually something to these alerts and sometimes there is an agenda, political or monetary behind these “alerts.” Take the “pink slime” scare, there was an actual motivation behind all the hype. Do your own research, don’t believe everything you hear or read, get different sources of information. BTW: the Huffington Post is a very political publication.

    • Thanks for that insight. Can’t wait to hear the results! I still plan to find or make a recipe for my own detergent though ;-)
