Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe

It’s Friday so you just know I have a batch of my Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe brewing!!!  If you have any type of love for apple pie and booze then I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy this one!  When my girlfriend gave me her recipe she said “be careful, it’s so good it will get you tore up from the floor up!” and boy was she right!  That’s the beauty of this recipe.  You can make it as strong as you want or not.  This popular recipe might be the main reason I drink my perfect liver cleanse cocktail too.  If you haven’t tried it, you should!

I should also mention that the longer this recipe sits in your fridge, the more tasty it becomes!

Apple Pie Moonshine

I love to serve these up in cute mason jars decorated with ribbons around the holidays too.  They make amazing gift ideas for that person that has everything.

This Apple Pie Moonshine recipe is amazing cold or warm.  I definitely drink it warm in the winter for sure.

I’ve made Apple Pie Moonshine many different ways and I know there are all sorts of different versions out there but I’m going to share my favorite version with you.  It’s made with Everclear and Whipped Vodka!  Time to kick this apple pie flavor up a notch or two!

What Does Apple Pie Moonshine Taste Like

If you are a fan of apple pie you will love this moonshine recipe. It tastes like you sliced off a piece of grandma’s apple pie and created a smooth drink. Now, don’t be fooled moonshine is one strong alcoholic drink, so sip with care.

Can I tell you a little side story for a minute?  I had just made this recipe again and decided to take some photographs for this post.  I live out on a ranch in the middle of no where.  I have goats chickens, dogs, cats etc…  We love our animals.  Sometimes our animals get in our way of things we like to do and this was exactly one of those days.

Apple Pie Moonshine

Some of the best lighting for this type of picture is outside with sunlight.  When I finished making this recipe I put some of the moonshine in jars.  Some of the sides were sticky from my hands so I rinsed the jars with water to clean them up.   The jars were wet when I brought them outside.  The goats come running (as they always do when I go outside) and they just had to see what I had.

It was really hot outside and these jars were nice and cold plus they were wet.  The goats immediately started licking them and wouldn’t stop!  They also ran off with the apples I had as props too.

I was able to grab a shot of one of our beauties as she was heading for my jar of apple pie moonshine!  I captured her with your tongue out!  How funny is that?  Please don’t think for a minute that I would ever allow my goats to consume anything that is bad for them.

They were going after the water on the outside of the jar from when I rinsed it.  I love my babies but they were a pain in you know what that day!  Cuties though…  don’tcha think?

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe Ingredients

  • 1-gallon Spiced Apple Cider
  • 1 gallon Apple Juice
  • 3/4 cup of white sugar
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 Tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 4 or 5 cinnamon sticks (you can use more if you really like a strong cinnamon flavor)
  • 1 (750 milliliters) of Everclear (grain alcohol)
  • 1 (750 milliliters) of Whipped Vodka

This recipe makes about 100 servings!  Feel free to cut this recipe in 1/2 if you need to.  You can double the recipe too if you are making gifts!

How to Make Apple Pie Moonshine

Be sure you have a big enough pot to make this recipe in.  The extra large pot in this photo is the one I use.

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe

Apple Pie Moonshine Recipe Directions:

Combine the apple juice and cider along with the white sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon sticks in a very large pot.

Stir it constantly until all the sugar dissolves and it comes to a boil.

Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 1 hour.  Your house will smell amazing in the process!

Remove it from the heat and let it cool completely.  I let it sit for several hours.

Remove the cinnamon sticks.

Once it’s completely cooled, add the Everclear alcohol and the whipped vodka.  (this is where you want to taste it to make sure the strength is just how you like it.  Feel free to add more or less vodka and Everclear based on your preference.  Just make sure you add a 50/50 mixture of each.  Meaning if you add a 1/2 cup more of vodka be sure to add a 1/2 cup more of Everclear also.  The recipe is pretty mild.  I like it a bit stronger so I almost always add another cup of vodka and another cup of Everclear.

Stir it completely and add the mixture to clean glass mason jars with lids and store in the refrigerator.  If you like a strong taste of cinnamon feel free to leave a stick in the jar for extra flavor.  I do this on a couple of jars myself.  I love the taste of cinnamon.

Note:  I don’t like drinks that are terribly sweet.  Some people tend to double up on the sugar but I don’t.  It’s plenty sweet from all the apple juice and cider you’ve added in my opinion.  Feel free to taste the liquid before you add the alcohol to see if it is sweet enough for your taste.

Apple Pie Moonshine With Everclear

There are many variations to this recipe.  I’ve made it with grain alcohol and spiced rum before.  Which came out amazing!  I also tend to double up on the brown sugar and omit the white sugar all together.

Please drink responsibly.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Is It Legal To Make Homemade Moonshine

Yes. I know with the Moonshining show on television it could make you a little leary, but this recipe is safe and legal to make. You are not using a still and the same type of method as the show portrays.

Does Apple Pie Moonshine Need to be Refrigerated

Once you open the moonshine from the jar make sure to keep in the fridge. I actually love the taste of cold moonshine, and this apple pie version really is tasty when chilled. If you want you can keep it refrigerated once it cools off after you make it.

  1. Want to make for the holidays as gifts. Does it have to be kept in the fridge once it’s in mason jars or can I keep it in a dark, cool place? Also, I see where some recipes say to strain it through a cheese cloth, do you have to do that? I chose your recipe because you use less sugar, the others seem to use so much sugar, sounds too sweet! Thank you!!
