This Mama is in Time Out!

OH. My. Goodness.  I totally feel like a grouchy Mom this week.  My youngest, only 8 years old, totally schooled me on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  Apparently, putting peanut butter on one side of the bread and jelly on the other slice of bread is WRONG.  She tells me you have to put the peanut butter on BOTH slices of bread and then the jelly on one slice.  This way the jelly doesn’t “leak” into the bread.  Really?!  Really?!!  She’s eight!  The worst part is she’s probably right.  I ended up telling her to make her own sandwich then.  And… while she’s at it she can make dinner too!!  Yeah, can you say grouchy!

In the same day, I walk into my oldest daughters room (she’s 18) and you cannot even see the floor.  I have not raised my daughters to live in clutter and filth!    Where does she get this from?  It must be Dad’s side of the family!  I swear!  Here’s a sign of the times.  I told her she better clean it up, and clean it up fast or else I plan to take a photo of it and post it all over the internet tagging everyone I know!  Geez!  Clean a room is not a hard thing!  Please!  Can you feel me?

After this week I could definitely use a time out!  I put MYSELF in time out!  There are just some times I can get too grouchy or grumpy especially when my Mom schedule is filled to the brim or when my girls push me to my limits.  So, it’s important that this Mama gets a time out with my girlfriends for my own sanity! I know my limits and my kids will appreciate a happy Mama too.  I take these time outs just for them!  haha!

First things, first.  Planning a Mama time out!  I love to call on my girlfriend Lori from A Day In Motherhood.   We have so much in common and we can chat for hours!  We talk about our daughters and our jobs as bloggers.  It’s nothing for us to be on the phone for hours on end without realizing how quickly the time is passing.  Lori doesn’t live in my city either but I still have “Moms Night Out” with her!  Thank you Skype!

We plan our stress relieving days after the kiddos are in bed and fast asleep.  This way we can tune into our favorite comedy, NickMom and get our drink on!  It’s the best channel to go to when there’s nothing else on!  Here’s the best part…  We can have a Mom’s Night Out without going anywhere.  No sitter is needed!  Yay!  And…  our house doesn’t have to be perfect because we Skype and she can’t see my loads of laundry that have piled up!  Planning and organization is not something I have mastered.  yet.

If you think just because your girlfriends live hours away from you will keep you apart, think again.  Just set up a time to Skype, Face Time, Snap Chat or whatever else you want to use to communicate online and plan a comedy night in with the girls!  Tune into NickMom  and watch Instant Mom after the kids go to bed for some Mother Funny stuff!  Warning though!  You may want to put a huge plastic baggy around your keyboard.  I speak from experience.  Did you know that Instant Mom is on every night!!  Tia Mowry-Hardrict is hilarious!!! One of the NickMom commercials just asked the question “What is breach birth?”  A lady answered “it’s when the baby it born butt first.”  The other lady said “Can you imagine if Kim Kardashian was born breach!”  I laughed so damn hard and nearly spit my drink all over my keyboard!!!  I love the Kim Kardashian but that was funny!  Be sure to check out their NickMom Facebook page too.  It’s hilarious!

So grab a cocktail or mocktail and tune in!

PlayDate Punch #Shop #Cbias

PlayDate Punch Recipe  (who says Mom can’t have playdates too)

  • 6oz Pineapple Rum
  • 6oz Coconut Rum
  • 1 cup Fruit Punch (I used a light punch to save on calories)
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 6 oz orange run

Directions:

Crush ice with your kids toy hammer!  lol…  Add the ice, pineapple, orange and coconut run to the blender.  Next add the leftover fruit punch that your kids didn’t finish at lunch.  Blend at medium speed and enjoy “Mommy’s Fruit Snack”.

I also made a neat little snack tray to enjoy during out Mom’s night out.  I tried to keep it low cal so I could enjoy my PlayDate Punch.  I included Snap Peas, Jalapeno Cheese, Pretzels, Sharp Cheddar Cheese and a Jalapeno Mustard dip for a kick of heat.  It was delish!

  1. I definitely needed the reminder that despite the fact that my best friend is hundreds of miles away, I can still have a girl’s night with her. We used to wake up on Sunday mornings and go to this little place called The Bunnery, in St. Augustine, Florida when I still lived there. We shared the same two dishes every week and sipped whatever feature, sugar-laden latte they had available that day. We both still talk about our Bunnery days, but I’m thinking now we can come up with something equally wonderful and do it via FaceTime or Skype!
