Norton Bus Tour in Austin, Texas this weekend

I had an opportunity to visit the Norton Bus Tour in Austin, Texas yesterday.  This bus is packed with information about Norton Mobile Security and Norton Hotspot Privacy.  There have been many advances in mobile security and even a secure hot spot!  Some of these threats I had not even considered!  It’s very interesting and worth the stop!

I’ve had my phone stolen before and it’s not a good feeling.  I can remember shopping at The Children’s Place at the mall a few years ago.  I had a mobile coupon so I handed the cashier my phone so she could scan the coupon.  She says she set the phone back on the counter and I never picked it up.  I realized after I left the store 20 minutes later that I left it on the counter.  I went back and the phone was never to be found again.  The phone was only 1 month old.  I paid a lot of money for the phone and felt horrible.   I think I called that store every day for two weeks after the incident to see if anyone turned it in. I was sad and mad at the same time.  You know how many phones I’ve found and turned in over the years?!  Many!  I couldn’t believe it happened to me.  I wished I had Norton Mobile Security when this happened.  This story would have had a different ending for sure.

The Norton Bus Tour is located in the Barton Creek Mall parking lot by the AMC Theater entrance.  You can visit this tour from Friday, December 6th to Sunday, December 8th during regular mall hours.

We were greeting at the bus door with a free 60-day subscription to Norton Mobile Security, free gift wrapping, a chance to win a $250 Mall Gift Card, a free custom Holiday photo in the photo booth and more!  Wow!  Lots of freebies for sure!

When I walked in I started the treasure hunt game with a device that gave me clues and a bus that was set up like a small city with lots of shops.  I used this device to get a clue and scan places with in the city that I thought were the answer.  TIP:  If you go, scan the presents!  (Gold boxes with big red bows) This was a fun game because I love hunting for treasures but it was eye opening too.  I actually learned a lot about mobile phone security and how I need it in lots of my daily activities.  I learned just how unsafe it can be for online purchases and hotspots that are not secure.

My favorite part about the tour was getting the free 60 day Mobile Security subscription.  I love the fact that it’s only $29.99 per year after that too.  That’s security at a cost I can afford.  I soon realized I can’t live with out it.  Besides, one membership can protect up to 3 devices (mobile phones and tablets).  My eight year old daughter has a iPad so I definitely want it on that one too!

Here’s what the Norton Mobile Security can do for you:

  • Protects multiple smartphones and tablets
  • Stops access of private information
  • Helps recover missing devices
  • Restores lost information

Think back to a time when you thought you lost your phone.   You know that panic feeling you get when you can’t find your phone only to quickly go through your head wondering what information is at risk.  These days we use our phones for everything.  If you are like me you even do your banking on your phone! We have so much information stored on our phones and it’s very vulnerable.

I also learned how open to a threat by sitting at my local coffee shop using the free hotspot they offer.  Not good!  Norton Mobile Security also offers hot spot protection.

Installation was a cinch too!  All I had to do was scan the QR reader and create (or sign in to) my account.  I entered the code and it’s done!

Here are some features of the Norton Mobile Security Subscription that I was blown away by:

Scream Alarm:  You can log in to the computer and send a text command to your phone that will set off an alarm.  This allows you to see if the device is close to you and you just can’t see it but rather hear the alarm.

Remote locate:  You can send a text command to remote locate your phones location.

Remote lock:  You can lock your information if you think your phone has been lost or stolen.

Remote wipe:  You can wipe your phone clear of all it’s information if you feel your phone has been stolen.

Norton Mobile Security even has a feature called “Sneak Peek!”  If you feel your phone has been lost or stolen you can set this feature and when someone starts using the phone it will take a photo of them so you can see who it is!  How cool is that?!!  It uses the reverse camera to take that photo!

But that’s not all!  Norton Mobile Security will check all your apps for threats!

The iPhone does have the cloud feature to save all of your information if it was lost or stolen but it doesn’t protect your phone the way Norton Mobile Security does.  It has all the bells and whistles you need and more!  This form of mobile security is a must with the android phones.  Android phones need a back up and this is the answer!

It would be worth it for you to head over to the Norton Bus tour and grab a free 60 day subscription to try this mobile security service for yourself!  You will thank me later for telling you about this!  I’m glad I went!

The extra freebies are fun too!

Key Facts:

• More than 1/3 of smartphone users have experienced mobile cyber crime (2013 Norton Report).

• Mobile devices and retail apps have made it easier than ever to shop and gift on the go. In fact, 58 percent of U.S. consumers used smartphones and 42 percent used tablets to shop during Cyber Monday 2012 (IBM).

• Only shop from secure sites – Whether shopping on a smartphone, tablet or home computer, only use reputable retailers and websites – look for HTTPS in your browser address bar before entering your personal information or credit card information.

• Let mobile security help you – These days, your mobile phone is more than just a communication device – it’s a social network, Internet browser and wallet. It’s important to take the same care and protection as you would a computer, and use a comprehensive solution like Norton Mobile Security (available for download on iTunes, Google Play and other official app marketplaces), so you’re protected no matter where you shop, surf or share.

Lastly, We had a blast in the Norton Photo booth too!  Can you tell?

    1. I learned tons! I’m glad I went. That “sneak peek” feature is amazing. They won’t even know the photo is being taken either. Tricky, tricky and a great way to see who has your phone!
