Simmer cranberries, 2 tablespoons sugar and water in a saucepan until it boils, stirring often. (I break the cranberries apart as they cook so they get sweetened through). Add diced pear and remove from heat and let cool.
Melt stick of butter in the bottom of your baking dish ( I microwave right in the dish for 1 minute)
Mix 1 cup sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, and vanilla in a mixing bowl.
Pour batter mixture right on top of the butter- do not mix.
Pour cranberry mixture over the batter, distributing evenly- do not mix.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until top is browned.
