The Basic Steps For Hydroseeding Your Yard

Hydroseeding has become extremely popular in recent years simply because it is much more cost efficient and successful than other methods. It is not difficult at all to do for yourself and it costs about a third of what it would cost you to lay sod.

It does cost a little more than traditional seeding, but that is arguable when you consider the time, energy and effort required to do it the old fashioned way. Time is money, after all.

Here is a quick look at the steps to hydroseeding:

Find the right solution

The first thing you want to do is get the right hydroseeding solution. This is going to be a mixture of seed, fertilizer and mulch. The mixture is different for various types of hydroseed. Ask your lawn care specialist about the hydroseeding mix you need to get the look you are after. You want to mix it well.

Begin at the right time

You want to start spraying your seeding at the beginning of the growing season if possible. The more sunlight the seed gets, the better your results will be.

Get the right tank and hose

This is a big part of the hydroseeding process. You want to have a strong tank and hose to spray the mixture evenly across your yard. If you are going to spend the money to hydroseed, you should get a good tank and hose combination to spread it evenly and correctly.

Water three times per day

If you are not getting rain, you need to moisten your lawn at least three times per day to keep the seed and fertilizer working for you. A moist lawn will keep your grass growing and your lawn looking great.

Over a short period of time you will begin to see some growth. The first week or two is very important.

Be careful to fill in spots you missed

Hopefully you will cover the entire area the first time, but you can always respray the areas that get missed. Just be sure you follow the same watering schedule and care that you did for the rest of the yard. Taking close care to cover your yard well the first time around will help it to grow evenly and pristeen.

Hydroseeding is a very easy way to get your yard growing quickly and efficiently without a ton of backbreaking work. The old way of manually seeding a yard is not a ton of fun and it is not nearly as effective in my view. The hydroseeding way is the wave of the future and costs less to boot!
