Homemade Cooking Spray Recipes
(using Olive Oil and Coconut Oil)
Has anyone else noticed the high price of “Cooking Sprays” now-a-days? Man, they are expensive!
I found a few alternatives to using the traditional “cooking sprays” and they may even save you a few pennies! Oh, and they are much healthier options too! That’s my favorite part!
First, You can purchase the Misto Olive Oil Sprayer on Amazon for under $10! This one is a very simple and easy way to use olive oil and a cooking spray with a reusable container! The Misto Olive Oil Sprayer gets very good reviews too!
Now you just know that I have to out a frugal twist on any option I give you! Next, I have a few recipes to make your very own “cooking sprays” without using a Misto Olive Oil sprayer!
Olive Oil Cooking Spray Recipe
Spray Bottle (You can purchase these at the Dollar Store, Walmart, Target etc… for about 99¢ to $1.50 depending on size)
Olive Oil (Tip: here’s a deal on Amazon)
Use 3 parts Olive Oil to 1 part Distilled water. For example, if you are making a enough for a large spray bottle use 3/4 cup of Olive Oil and 1/4 cup of distilled water. If you have a travel size spray bottle you can use 3 teaspoons Olive Oil and 1 teaspoon distilled water.
Next, add it to your spray bottle,
Shake and use!
Voila! How easy is that!
Note: You may think at first adding water to oil will make it “splatter” when it hits the hot pan but it doesn’t. Check out this video I capture of the results! It’s just like using your typical spray oils!
Now most of you know that cooking with Olive Oil cannot be done at high temperatures so I also made a Coconut Oil Spray Recipe too! By the way, Coconut Oil can be used at higher temperatures and it’s really good for you too! (I’m trying to use Coconut Oil in everything I cook!)
