How to Use Organization to Increase Your Confidence Level

Organization is a powerful tool that is not used nearly as often as it should be in helping us to feel self confident. Self confidence is a direct result of being prepared, after all. Think about it! When you feel as though you are confident and ready for any problem, you generally have a game plan and the tools needed to attack the coming situation. This is one of those things that is plain as the noses on our faces but very easy to miss. Here are some things to consider and ways to take advantage of this simple, yet powerful concept.

Begin by identifying the areas in your life when you lack confidence. It seems tough to do, but it is actually very easy. Just look at your life with open eyes and take note of situations where you get nervous, hesitant or less confident. Any time this happens, you should write it down. The worst time to work on self confidence is right when you are feeling unworthy or inept. Write it down and come back to it later with fresh eyes. You will see things in a very different light.

Once you have a list of situations that you lose confidence in, go through them and look for similar situations. Chances are you will see a recurring theme. Perhaps you find that you get nervous each time you go into a crowded mall, or at school. There are countless situations that can challenge our self confidence.

For the purposes of learning this method, let’s say that we get nervous when we go to a crowded store or mall.

Now that you have identified areas where your confidence suffers, you can formulate a plan to fix it. Confidence is a direct reflection of your perceived ability to accomplish something or deal with a situation. The number one way to manipulate that confidence is to prepare. The number one way to prepare is to organize. See the correlation?

In the example above, you know that you have an issue staying confident in crowded stores or areas. To solve this problem, you need to organize yourself so that you will be prepared to deal with that lack of confidence. Make a list (organize) of all the things you can imagine that would make you feel more confident in that situation. As an example, I listed some things down below:

– Bring along a friend or family member

– Bring along your iPod to distract yourself while you move about

– Make a list of conversation starters (weather, current events, etc)

– Organize your trip (where you are going and the quickest routes)

– Familiarize yourself with all the exits and bathrooms ahead of time (if you have anxiety issues, etc)

This is a sample list of how you can improve your confidence simply by getting organized. This is a very powerful method when you suffer from anxiety or social problems. Keep this in mind the next time you feel as though you are suffering from a lack of self confidence. You can always improve your situation.
