Creative Ideas to Organize Your Hats
Do you have a collection of hats? You can only wear one at a time, so you need some good methods to keep your hats organized and on display. Check out some of these creative ideas to organize your hats and show off  your collection:
High Shelf and Mannequin Heads
Put your hats on display and keep them in order by installing a long shelf high on your wall — about 12 inches from the ceiling. Purchase mannequin heads from local craft stores and use them to display the hats. Dress up the heads to add some character and create a conversation piece.
Tree Limb
Cut a sapling or use a large limb trimmed from a tree and turn it into a unique hat tree. Put the sapling or limb into a large flower pot then fill the pot with plaster of Paris to weight it down. Arrange the hat tree in a corner in your home. Drape a string of white Christmas lights around the tree then hang up your hats for a creative display. If you have more hats than you have branches, do a rotation.
Book Shelf
A book shelf can be used to hold your hats instead of books. Organize the shelves according to hat color or type. Add a few unique trinkets that add interest to the display. You may also choose to use the sides of the book shelf for extra organization and display. Just add coat hooks to the sides to hang the hats.
Multi-Compartment Cubby
You’ve seen those multiple compartment cubby shelves haven’t you? This particular type of shelf is a great option for a hat collection. The square cubbies are just the right size for a single hat. You can also place decorative or sentimental items like family photos, trophies, or other trinkets.
Framed Photos
If you have a man cave or woman cave and you don’t want to put all of your hats on display, try this creative idea. Take some quality photos of your favorites then have sizeable prints made. Put the prints into nice frames then hang them up in your special room. This is an easy method for displaying your hats without actually having them out.
Accordion Racks
An accordion rack is a great choice for simply hat organization. These racks can be adjusted for size and they can be painted to match your decor. Choose a wall to display your hats then add two or three accordion racks. Organize your hats according to color, subject, or style.
A hat collection can take up a lot of space. A little creativity can go a long way, though, with turning your hats into conversation pieces. Use a few of these ideas as inspiration then add your own personal touches to create and organize your collection into something you can enjoy.
