I’ve been working with Dr. Boz. She is a Keto Coach! We are testing a few things to get my insulin resistance in line. We are doing Intermittent Fasting for Weight loss because I’ve been stalled. I’ve basically been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds for the last 6 months even though I’ve been staying on track with my macronutrients and what I am supposed to eat.
We do a Facebook Live Video every Sunday night at 7 pm CST. Head over to the Keto Friendly Recipes Facebook page and follow along. Don’t worry if you can’t be on the live exactly at 7 pm. We always post it video so that you can watch the replay too. I will mention that it’s best to watch the live if you have questions though, there’s a chance we will answer those questions live!
Here’s our very first Facebook Live video replay. This is a video where she talks about what we plan on testing. She explains that she wants me to use a Blood Glucose and Ketone meter to track my results.
After a lot of research, I found the Fora 6 meter to be the only meter on the market that is not only very accurate but can do both the blood and glucose readings with the same machine! I ordered a machine and had it in my hands in under 3 days!
Keto Coaching: Intermittent Fasting for Weight loss and How To Start
Here’s the first video:
Here’s our second consultation with Dr. Boz on Facebook Live. Here we review my blood and glucose readings from the week prior. We also introduced my husband on to the show because he has different reasons for doing the Keto diet. He is trying to lose weight to alleviate some knee pain he is having.
Dr. Boz explains how to read blood and glucose readings. She says to divide the glucose number by the ketone number to get a ratio percentage. Anything under an 80% ratio and you would be considered to be in a weight loss zone! This is exciting that I can track accurate numbers with a simple test in the morning. She requires me to fast for at least 12 hours a day. Fasting means nothing but water and salt. Nothing else. By fasting for 12 hours a day, you are completely allowing your liver to rid your body of the insulin from the food you eat. You are also allowing your body to enter a phase called autophagy.
There are basically two different goals to reach when you do intermittent fasting. Autophagy is a process that allows your body to clean up its’ cells! Have you ever heard the arguments on social media about how many calories you can have while you are fasting or if you really only need water and salt for fasting? This explains it in detail!! You will learn a ton more about autophagy and what is right for you in this article: Autophagy and the benefits of Intermittent Fasting
Tracking Blood Glucose and Ketones: How to Read your Results
Here’s the second video:
In the second video, she explains tricks to help your body back into ketosis quickly if you hit a pitfall. We talked about eating carbs after you are fat adapted and alcohol. The trick to getting back into a ketogenic state is to use Exogenous Ketones for a carb or alcohol hangover that’s mentioned in this video. You can order some: PerfectKeto Exogenous Ketones. Be sure to use Promo Code: isavea2z to get an extra discount! I’ve tested this product personally and found it to be of high quality. The best selling flavors are Chocolate and salted caramel! John will test his blood and ketone readings this week. He will report back next Facebook live video with his weekly results.
Stay tuned! I will update when we have more results!
